ULTIMATE FRISBEE DOG POSTER SERIES
This poster series was created as a typographic and motion-inspired exploration celebrating the agility, energy, and personality of frisbee dogs. The project aimed to translate dynamic movement into bold, expressive compositions using type, motion cues, and graphic repetition. Each poster interprets “action” in a different visual language, resulting in a cohesive yet varied collection that balances playfulness with strong design fundamentals

DESIGN CONCEPT
The series is built around the challenge of translating physical motion into typographic expression. Instead of relying on imagery, each poster uses type, shape, and composition to capture the energy and spontaneity of frisbee dog sport. Movement is communicated through repeated words, angled baselines, varied spacing, and the interplay of large and small type. Circular forms reference the flight path of the frisbee, while bold typography emphasizes the power and athleticism of the dogs themselves. Each piece interprets action in a different way, resulting in a collection that feels cohesive yet distinct, unified by a shared sense of momentum and play.
Initial sketches and drafts of composition. My process involved sketching dog components and textures to be digitized and create unique typeface compositions full of dyamism and texture.
Typography
Bold, condensed typefaces convey power and athleticism. Repetition and distortion used to imply motion trails. Directional alignment (angled, staggered, curved) reinforces movement. Scaled type creates hierarchy and depth
Color Palette
High-contrast palettes used to amplify energy. Limited colors per poster for clarity and impact. Complementary hues support legibility while emphasizing movement. Vivid accents reference the bright, playful nature of dog sports
Graphic Elements
Circular motifs represent frisbee shapes. Stacked and overlapped text simulate jumps, arcs, and runs. Rhythm created through spacing and repetition. Minimalist shapes allow typography to stay dominant.
